US media has always been targeting and criticizing Pakistanis for being pro-Taliban and for not playing sufficient role to fight against the terror, in other words, they keep on wanting Pakistanis to “do more”. Be it the Pakistan Army, the scientists, the politicians or the media. Ironically, the famous US journal New York Times didn’t even spare the Pakistani music industry this time and alleged them of being the Pro-Taliban.
The report published by the NYTimes says that Pakistani pop starts sing music against US and US policies, but they never sing the songs against the Taliban and the terrorists. NYTimes also posted a video on their website where they show the short documentary based on the interviews and songs of Pakistani stars. The songs and album in question was Shahzad Roy’s famous “Kismat Apnay Haath Mein”.
In the video, the NYTimes misquoted the interviews of the pop starts and tried to give an anti-American impression from them but the story was unfolded in a recent political talk show Capital Talk by non other then the Pop stars themselves. The show was aired on GEO TV and the guests were Shahzad Roy, Ali Zafar, Abrar ul Haq and Ali Azmat. And to accompany them, there was in the show an American pop star and social activist Todd Shay.
All of the guests criticized the US media with a special slam to NYTimes alleging them to alter the reports and use in their own interests. They refuted all the allegations posed by the NYTimes and Todd Shay spoke in favor of Pakistani pop stars.
Ali Zafar stated that they’re not answerable to the US media, neither are they going to answer! its their choices about what they sing and/or against or in favor of anyone. Ali Azmat, in aggressive tone, blasted NYTimes stating they’re equally involved in the US state terrorism.
All of the artists resolved that the artists from both the countries should join hands so as to be able to reach the voices and message of peace to the general people.
